Nasrin Ghaderi, a 35-year-old woman from Marivan, was another recent victim of the Islamic regime. She was announced dead on November 4th. According to multiple news outlets including Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nasrin passed away as a result of severe blows to her head at the hands of the regime forces. She was buried in secret, similar to most of the victims of this revolution, as Iranian authorities fear that funerals and memorials could become a scene of protests.
Iranian state media referred to a variety of reasons to explain Nasrin's sudden death, including pre-existing heart condition and poisoning, without offering evidence or any more details. Nasrin’s father had announced her death due to severe flu on state media which is believed to be another forced statement upon another victim’s family. Akoo Ghaderi, Nasrin's brother, gave a speech during her funeral where he alluded to the forced nature of the interview with his dad.
The breaking news about the death of Nasrin Ghaderi sparked protests in her hometown of Marivan, a northwestern Kurdish city, on November 6. The protesters took to the streets to chant "death to the dictator" "death to Khamenei" and "woman. life. freedom." Hengwa reported that regime forces clashed with the protesters using tear gas, live ammunition, and case shots, injuring at least 30 individuals.
To support the protesters, merchants and bazaars went on strike. Marivan, along with other cities in Kurdistan Province, has been the scene of persistent protests, teachers' strikes, and merchants' strikes.
