Vigil for Iran

Organized by Pratt Institute Fine Arts Faculty

Please join Pratt Fine Arts faculty to demonstrate solidarity with the current protest in Iran, to stand against state violence, and with Iranians of all genders who are uprising after the death of Mahsa Amini.

The Pratt Iranian community will speak on behalf of their compatriots who are experiencing government brutality and internet blackout as they demonstrate in the name of bodily autonomy.

On 16 September, Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman, was brutally murdered by the “morality police” of the Islamic Republic of Iran. She was beaten several times on the head after her arrest for wearing so-called “improper” hijab.
This was among many other state murders committed systemically and purposefully by the gender-apartheid regime of Iran. Since the 16th, protests have erupted in many cities in Iran and across the globe. #mahsaamini #iranprotests
