Izeh, a city in the southwest province of Khuzestan, was brutally suppressed by the regime forces on the second day of the three-day nationwide protests which left 9 civilians dead, including two minors.

People of Izeh poured into the streets to demand “freedom”, show their dissent for the regime by chanting “death to Khamenei”, and set public spaces that symbolize power on fire, such as a square named after IRGC & a religious seminary. Videos provide evidence of the regime forces using live ammunition to directly shoot at the people. After the news of casualties broke out, the regime immediately called this massacre a terrorist attack and pointed fingers at ISIS. The state media, IRNA News Agency, posted a “statement” attributed to ISIS on their website, which was proved to be fake and they took it down hours later without offering an explanation. The evidence offered by the families of the victim, however, suggests that forces affiliated with the regime opened the fire.

Sepehr Maghsoodi, 14 years old, was shot in the head. The picture of his mutilated head has been circulating on different social media platforms. Security forces stole his body from the morgue two hours after. Regime forces regularly kidnap the bodies of the victims and bury them in secret to prevent another mass protest at their funerals.

Kian Pirfalak, 10 years old, was shot in the lung while in a car with his family. Videos show that the family initially refused to take Kian’s body to the morgue in the fear of the regime kidnapping him. There are scenes in which the family is using ice cubes to keep the temperature low - a haunting image that resembles the extent of the violence & terror inflicted upon civilians.
